Brief history of the Organization:
The Zabarang Kalyan Samity began its journey in 28 January, 1985 with its headquarters in Khagrapur, Khagrachari , in the southern hill district of Bangladesh.

Zabarang Kalyan Samity is a non-profit and non-political socio-economic organization is to work for poor people in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in achieving education for all, empowering communities, influencing local, national and international policies by providing technical and financial support and advocacy to realize their basic rights.
Project Objective:
1. Enrolment rate of school going aged children increased up to 95% from present rate (83%) and the retention rate of enrolled students increased up to 80% from the present rate (35%) by 2012 2. 10 non-government and community-run schools well-equipped and water sanitation friendly with sustainable school plans and IGA schemes to implement the plans by 2012. 3. Education service providing agencies and local authorities (HDC, Upazila administration, and primary education officials) are more responsive and supportive in favor of achieving access to education related services by 2012.
Expected Outcome:
1600 children (approximately) including 50 percent girls received education opportunity in the targeted schools - 25 School communities (SMCs, PTAs, MGs and Teachers) are able to play vital role in ensuring enrollment and monitoring/tracking/ensuring attendance of teachers and students. - 90% students are regular at classes and responsive to the teachers’ instructions. - 50% schools from 10 non-government and community run schools applied meeting the registration criteria - 10 non-government and community run schools with school-centered specific IGA schemes in line with the SDP - Water and sanitation support for 20 non government and community run schools - Local level civic actors are determined on their roles in carrying out the civil society movement on the identified local specific education advocacy agenda. - Frequency of school visits by Education service providing agencies and local authorities (HDC, Upazila administration, primary education officials) increased and education related emerging issues are addressed.
Project Goal: Increase access to primary education in areas excluded from such access, and to facilitate sustainability of the access to primary education in the areas concerned.
Major Activity: Different community group formation and capacity development of these group for school management. Such as; SMC, PTA, Mothers Group. Community mobilization for school going children enrollment.

Teachers training package development and teacher's training.

Educational material development on mother tongue.

Income generating program for school sustainability.
