| Brief history of the Organization: |
Voluntary Association for Family Welfare and Social Development (VAFWSD) was established in 1994 by a group of renowned and qualified social workers with a common interest in providing support services and to render all possible help to the suffering of the entire human community. |
| Project Objective: |
To improve the State of Education, Recreation, Health, Vocational Training, Safety measures, Protection, Access to justice, involvement of Corporate Sectors and Social discipline for the working children of Motor Garages, Lathe & Welding Workshops. |
| Expected Outcome: |
At the end of the program-
1. The working children of motor garages, lathe & welding workshops will being made aware about child and human rights and their rights will have been protected by the owners and concerned authorities through advocacy and awareness raising.
2. The level of non- formal / formal education/life skill of 2500 working children will be increased, vocational skill developed, better opportunities created, essential health services and hygiene education will have been ensured.
3. Safety, security, future protection, healthy working environment, sanitation and pure drinking water facilities have been created for 4000 working children of motor garage, lath and welding workshops.
4. The involvement of Corporate Sectors will have been increased to sponsor of their social responsibilities for the working children of MG & WW.

Child & Human rights of the Motor Garage, Lathe & Welding Workshop’s child workers protected through creating positive attitude among the concerned Institutes, Policy makers, Civil Society, Corporate Sector, Associations, relevant owners, motor garages, lathe & welding workshops and parents/guardians |
| Major Activity: |
• Identification of target working children.
• One & one contact with child workers, parents/guardians and owner's of MG & WW.
• Communication and interaction with the owners of MG & WW and their associations
• Regular formal/ informal visit of MG & WW by the project staffs.
• Establish linkage and organize open dialogue with the owners and Association of MG & WW about child rights issues and the well being of the child workers
• Organise open dialogue with parents /guardians and owners about child and human rights issues
• Conduct Base Line Survey at MG & WW on child worker's present situation in newly selected working areas
• Procure /develop/ printing and distribution of Poster, Calendar, and Brushier, leaflet, sticker on child rights and hazardous child work issues.
• Conduct 2 days training of child workers of MG & WW on Human Rights, Child Rights, Heath Hazards and Safety Measures, BCC and HIV/AIDS issues
• Organize meeting with related stakeholders like owners, associations, elected bodies, city corporation (Ward Commissioners), Member of Parliament, Media personnel, NGOs, corporate sector, civil society to solve the problems of child workers as and when required
• Publication and circulation of News Letter on periodic progress of the project / child rights issues in every six months
• Collect and updated Modules of trainings on Child Rights, Health Hazards and Safety Measures issues
• Awareness creation of working children about salary, working hours, leave, working environment, sanitation and safe drinking water through discussion
• Motivate the owners of MG & WW to improve working environment, increase salaries/benefit and reduce working hours for minor aged child workers.
• Observance of National and International Days (The International Human Rights Day, The World Day Against Child Labour, May Day etc) to create mass awareness on child rights and hazardous child labour issues,
• Messages on child rights and hazardous child work issues disseminate through print and electronic media.
• Organize Talk Shows on child rights and hazardous child work issues by the electronic media.
• Develop/ collect documentary films and organize film/video shows on child rights and hazardous child work issues
• Procure / develop & distribute BCC materials among Children, owners of MG & WW, parents/guardians and relevant organizations
• Awareness creation of working children about health hazards, and hygiene education
• Carry out counseling on essential health care
• Open Dialogue with Health and hygiene education service providing Organizations for establishing linkage
• Establish Water Sealed Latrine at the premises of Motor garage and WW
• Organize satellite clinic facilities at working areas through linkage and provide L A cards for free treatment of child workers and their families.
• Ensure safe drinking water at MG & WWs for working children
• Provide regular check up, treatment and distribution of essential medicine by the Paramedic to the child workers at MPC and Satellite clinics.
• Supply of first aid box in the MG & WW and MPC (where applicable)
• Follow up the use of first aid boxes,
• Awareness creation of working children about HIV/AIDS, STDs and other transmitted diseases through discussion/ one and one contac
• Motivate the owners of MG & WW for the education of their child workers
• Identify related organizations working with formal and non-formal education.
• Develop linkages with the potential organisations working with non-formal education through: open dialogue, meeting, exchange views & ideas, relevant organization visit and lobbing for providing services.
• Establish 15 Multi Purpose Centers (MPC) in rented houses of working areas in Dhaka City Corporation to provide non-formal education, recreation facilities, health services, training, meeting etc.
• Purchase and supply of furniture/fixture, equipment and education materials to the 15 Multi Purpose Center (MPC)
• Orientation briefing for NFE Teacher cum MPC In charges and orientation briefing.
• Conduct 04 days basic/ foundation training of 15 NFE Teacher cum MPC In charge from BRAC/other organizations.
• Conduct regular refresher training/ meeting of NFE teacher cum MPC In charge
• Preparation/ purchase and distribution of education materials (Books, Pencil, Khata, Eraser, Sharpener, Pencil, Bag, File, Board, Chalk, Duster, slate etc) to the MPC
• Purchase and supply of painting /drawing materials
• Supply of cultural equipments and materials for cultural activities.
• Involve the interested organisations for the education services of the working children and refer the children to the relevant schools depending on their needs.
• Mainstreaming of child workers and referred to different schools depending on education status.
• Follow up the regular attendance of school going children
• Supply of recreational materials to the MPC like Carom board, Baghaduli, Lodu, Story Books, Books of general knowledge, Magazine, foot ball, cricket etc.
• Oorganize study tour / learning visit for working children out side Dhaka city.
• Formation of Cultural Team by the working Children and organize cultural activities and cultural competition
• Organize yearly sports competition through sponsorship among the groups of working children.
