Brief history of the Organization:
Save the Children has been fighting for children’s rights since 1919.

Save the Children is the world’s largest independent child rights development organisation, making a difference to children’s lives in more than 100 countries. From emergency relief to long-term development, Save the Children secures a child’s right to health, education and protection.

Save the Children Australia manages and implements programs in Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. We also support development programs through our global network in selected countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Project Objective:
To ensure greater child participation contributing to the next Bangladesh Alternative Report to be submitted to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child by establishing an ongoing child-led monitoring and reporting process, in accordance to the UNCRC principles of child participation and UNCRC Concluding Observations.
Expected Outcome:
• By the end of the project, an effective and innovative reporting system will be set in place in every district engaging with various stakeholders which will enable the greater society to understand child rights and the Concluding Observations • Greater child participation will be ensured in the reporting mechanism on children’s situation in Bangladesh • By engaging all stakeholders, ORTOB will create a sustainable reporting system where children and duty bearers work together to monitor the state of child rights within their communities • Annual situation analysis report from children’s perspective, created by the children for adults and children alike
Project Goal: To improve the realization of child rights in Bangladesh by promoting greater participation of children in monitoring and reporting processes.
Major Activity: Developing child rights monitoring and reporting tools for use by children in consultation with the relevant specialized network agencies

Developing the annual national level reports over the three-year period, with each report focusing on a different theme.

Action plan for the capacity development of member agencies of the relevant networks for carrying out the UNCRC monitoring and reporting.

Capacity development of 180 children, in the 18 districts, regarding the child rights monitoring and reporting and orientation with the monitoring and reporting tools (60 children in the first year, 60 in the second year and 60 in the third year).
