Project Title: Protecting and Promoting Rights of working children
Project Location: Barobazar & Kola Unions, Kaliganj Municipality area of Kaligonj Upazila and Jhenaidah Municipality of Sadar Upazila under Jhenaidah district.

Brief history of the Organization:
Sonar Bangla Foundation (SBF) - a local NGO has been working in Kaliganj Upazila under Jhenaidah district was founded in Kaliganj Upazila in 1995 and kept continue its devotion on various development activities including rights promotion issues for women and children despite its resource constraints. SBF initiated the process of rural development for the poor people in the said workplaces since its inception with the partnership support from national, local and international organizations, citizens’ support groups and donors.
Project Objective:
To establish the systematic prevention and elimination of hazardous child labor and exploitative child labor in Kaliganj and Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila under Jhenaidah district.
Expected Outcome:
1) Parents, employers, local authorities, communities and general public will have been made aware of the problem of child labor issues and its negative consequences and mobilized to take action against it. 2) Viable social protection services provided to children through education, recreation, counseling, referral services and health care and education in order to ensure the removal of 200 children of under 10 and children under hazards working conditions. 3) Pre-Vocational training to 55 temporary working children <13 and Vocational training to 25 regular working children aged >14 under hazardous workplace on contemporary marketable skills and create job and self-employment assistance after training 4) About 225 adults, of whom 82% is women, will have been provided support for economic empowerment in terms of gaining an alternative income source to ensure the complete withdrawal of their hazardous workplaces and or job replacement. 5) A workplace children labor monitoring system established conducive for preventing vulnerable children from being exploited, trafficked, harassed and abused in child workplaces. 6
Project Goal: The children get equal rights of enjoying basic human needs and mainstreaming in the society with social activation through sensitization and mobilization.
Major Activity: Communication and motivation program with the target children and employers

Establishment of Stop-over Home (Education cum Recreation Centre)

Formation of Project Facilitating Committee (PFC) and Project Action Committee(PAC)

Health support and skill training for the children
