| Brief history of the Organization: |
- Rupantar is a developmental organization working in the southwestern region of Bangladesh , the area that has the World's single largest mangrove forest - the Sundarbans . Established in 1982 as a voluntary development organization, Rupantar (meaning transformation) emeraged as a cultural group in 1986. Later, in December 1992, the organization secured the government permission to work as a Non Government Organization (NGO).
- Rupantar started its activities with alternative theatre, folk drama and popular publications for the poor people living in the grassroots. It has been developing awareness raising activities on developmental issues, adding new forms of folk methods for various productions. This has enabled Rupantar to reach its unique recognition as a development organization with a difference.

| Project Objective: |
1. KCC and other major service providers adopt improved institutional mechanism in planning, implementation that supports them to address the poor effectively.
2. Strong citizens’ platforms remain active for facilitating poor people’s participation and advocating for the rights and entitlements of the urban poor.

| Expected Outcome: |
Increase access to services: 8310 families will be receiving health service from community clinics, loan and training from Youth Development Department, Women affairs Department on IGA
Improve Social security: 500 Number of targeted people, poor & hard core poor will get due share by the safety-net schemes
Increase representation of poor and vulnerable people: 900 numbers of poor and vulnerable people will represent in public and social institutions like as Citizen Forum, HMC and CDC
Increase income: 840 targeted people will involved in IGA in deferent trade in Handicrafts, hand stitching, Karchupi, Confectionery etc and will be benefited from increasing production, cost saving, etc
