| Brief history of the Organization: |
Nagorik Uddyog, founded in 1995, as a non-government organization working with a particular focus on strengthening the local governance and empowering women at the grassroots level through educating them on political and women’s rights and building leadership capacity for promoting human rights and governance.
It is also committed to improve conventional system of mediation and establishing social and gender justice irrespective of gender and social status through mediation and legal support.
NU has gained credibility of the community it works with over a decade by establishing more affordable systems of justice, than the formal court and judicial systems. Currently, NU is working in 9 thanas of 5 districts.

| Project Objective: |
To improve women’s access to justice by promoting gender sensitive, appropriate mediation procedures at the grassroots level;
To create community based sustainable institutions for ensuring women’s right related to family laws;
Capacity building of women UP members for active participation in decision making process of shalish & mediation.

| Expected Outcome: |
*Human Rights monitoring group is mediating 100% disputes considering gender equality.
*CBO members are protesting 100% incident of Human Rights violation
* 80% of Vulnerable women groups have access to basic services & have been involved in income generating activities.
*80 % of dispute settled according to Law & Human Rights principle.
*Arbitration council, Union Parishad standing committee on NNPC & Law & order situation are functional & performing their role.
