| Brief history of the Organization: |
NFOWD was established in 1991. In 2000, the organization adopted the vision which reads: "By the year 2010 all people with disabilities will be visible and have equal opportunities to participate in the mainstream of society in Bangladesh".
Since inception, NFOWD has been working as a interface between NGOs and GoB in the disability field in Bangladesh. It has been addressing the issues of disability at National Level and with its Member Organizations working at the Local Level. It has been working to facilitate the macro-micro linkage.
NFOWD is Advocacy with Government. For continuous advocacy, Government has taken some initiative for the persons with Disabilities. Those are monthly allowance, Micro credits, Easy process of bank loans, reserve sit in the BRTC bus, half concession on the actual fare, Declaration of 1% quota in the civil service by the honorable Prim minister etc.
These facilities are the direct impact of continuous Advocacy program with the Government these activities are indirectly supporting the persons with Disabilities to decrease their poverty.

1.To advocate for formulation and implementation of appropriate laws & policies for the well being of persons with disabilities
2.To promote a strong movement in favor of persons with disabilities by persons with disabilities in association with civil society, human rights activists, development professional, media and other relevant stakeholders |
