| Brief history of the Organization: |
Liberation War Museum (LWM) was established in 1996 to commemorate struggle of Bengali nation for democracy and national rights, which culminated with the emergence of independent Bangladesh as secular democratic state in December 1971. The museum is run by a Board of Trustee with overwhelming support from all sections of people and is outcome of citizen's effort at grassroot level. So far in 457 weeks 2,91,565 people visited the museum. The museum is dedicated to all freedom loving people and victims of mindless atrocities and destructions committed in the name of religion, ethnicity and sovereignty. The museum encourages reflection upon the sufferings and heroism of Bangladesh liberation war and its ideals. Liberation War Museum endeavors to link this history with contemporary pressing social and humanitarian issues. |
| Project Objective: |
The specific objective of the project is to educate the students about the universal human rights and pluralism and tolerance. Effort is made to involve them with the events of liberation war at their local & family level and make them active agent of preservation of history. |
| Expected Outcome: |
The new generation will get ideas about rights as well as history of liberation war. Thereby they can form an overview of Liberation and HR and can develop as a conscious citizen of the country. |
