| Brief history of the Organization: |
Mukto Akash Bangladesh is a Self Help Group and non-profitable community based organization of People living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs). It has started it¡¦s activities since June 20 03 for people infected and affected by the HIV and AIDS. The Infected being those people who are living with the HIV while the affected are who are those disadvantaged as a result of having their partners, guardians or relatives suffering from or having died of AIDS. Mukto Akash Bangladesh got its registration on 11th July¡¦ 2004 from Ministry of Social Welfare Bangladesh. |
| Project Objective: |
1.To raise awareness on human rights, legal issues related with HIV and AIDS among 120+80 PLHAs & their family members.
2.Creating an enabling environment for people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS to access social services such as health, education and legal aid through advocacy and sensitization.
3.To build the capacity of people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHAs) so they can be empowered economically and be able to claim their rights.

| Expected Outcome: |
-Awareness about human rights among 80% of the direct beneficiaries increased.
-People infected and affected by HIV empowered to raise their voices to demand for their rights.
-Reduced stigma and discrimination against people infected and affected HIV.
-Reflection and recognition of the rights of people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS in policy at institutional level and practice at family and community level.

| Project Goal: |
To create a conducive environment for People living with and affected (family members of persons infected by HIV) by HIV and/or AIDS through creating awareness about human rights and legal issues & advocacy for their rights. |
| Major Activity: |
Training/Orientation on human rights, legal issues related with HIV and AIDS among PLHAs and mass community
Establish referral system with legal aid support organizations, Health service providers, Academic institutions, pathology.
Round table discussion meetings/seminars on the human rights of PLHAs with media personnel, legal aid service provider and human rights activists.(Dhaka & Khulna)
Providing or create opportunities for livelihood training/vocational training to PLHA (with special emphasize on women). |
