| Brief history of the Organization: |
Fareea Lara Foundation was established in 1998 after the tragic death of pilot Fareea Lara. Lara was about to complete her instructional training on 27 Sept ’98, at the end of her journey from Barisal, she crashed her Sesna-150 at 10:23 a.m. on that day. At a condolence meeting held on 10 Oct' 98, Fareea Lara Foundation was established for the cause of humanity with the following aims:
"Create awareness on human rights, women rights, child rights and working together for eradicating gender discrimination". |
| Project Objective: |
Major objectives of the proposed project
-Strengthen community role to prevent and protect of violence against women;
-Make stronger local level organizations(UP, school, college) to more responsive and supportive attitude towards women’s human rights;
-Mobilize Govt. institutions (Administration, thana, health, court) to ensure service of VAW victims.

* Project Outcomes
• Rights activists are now playing pro-active role with regards to violence against women.
• Local educational institutions authority and Admn. authorities are now responsive to the entitlement
of women community.
• Service providing organizations like Hospitals, Police Stations, Courts, Education dept. and
public health dept. are very much concern to serve the victim women.
• Women have become more organized.
• Self reliance and ownership sense increased among the beneficiaries
• Awareness on different issues increased in the community people especially to the women Self
reliant increased
• Increased women’s participation in income generating activities and decision making process in
family and community level
•Increased women dignity in family and community
•Violence against women decreased on different issues like dowry, early marriage, polygamy, divorce, maintenance

| Project Goal: |
The goal of the project is to bring down the rate of violence against women at a zero tolerance level.
|
| Major Activity: |
-Monthly Meeting with village & ward level SNP: Organize monthly meeting with village and ward level Swachetan Nagorik Parishad (SNP) on different issues like: human rights, women rights, violence against women, different laws in Bangladesh, roles and responsibilities of the committees. Total two hundred meeting will be arranged in the project period (village-100, ward-100 total meeting – 200).
-Teacher’s orientation: Organize five orientations for 150 teachers of 75 school and college on women rights, violence against women and their roles and responsibilities to prevent & protect VAW.
-School session with students: Conduct quarterly school & college session with students of 75 school and colleges.
-Meeting with NNPC: Attend the upazila parishad’s Nari Nirjaton Pratirodh Committee (NNPC) meeting.
-Conduct counseling session: Conduct counseling sessions with victimizes women and her family members.
-Conduct local salish: Local level SNP conduct local level salish on VAW cases.
-Rapport building meeting with the Govt. institutions (Administration, thana, health, court)
