CODEC started to work in the coastal area of Bangladesh in 1975 with the poor fisherfolk communities. Over the past 19 years, since its founding in 1985 as a people-centred development organisation, CODEC has been growing and evolving into an efficient and effective non-governmental development organisation committed to the development of poor and marginalised people of coastal Bangladesh. CODEC has been taking on a holistic approach towards poverty alleviation in the coastal areas through intensive participation of underprivileged people – men, women, children and adolescents. CODEC initiated its journey of poverty alleviation in the new millennium with a new approach based on realisation of rights instead of service delivery. “Protection and Promotion of Rights of Marginalized Fisherfolk Communities” is one of the projects using rights-based approach with the support of Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF). |
