Brief history of the Organization:
Bancheta Shekha (BS) is a non-government voluntary women and children development organization established in 1976 in Jessore, Bangladesh. It is working to empower and improve the position of women in society and to enhance their rights through integrated development approaches. Currently, BS is working in 450 villages of 11 thanas of 7 districts in greater Khulna and Dhaka Division.

Project Objective:
Objective- 1: Strengthening institutional capacity of sustainable women leader CBOs to deal rights violation against women and claim their rights aptly. Objective- 2: Improved access of targeted women to the quality services of GO/NGOs including health, legal and safety net facilities. Objective- 3: Created a positive environment to formulate Hindu a law on ‘Hindu Marriage Law’ for contributing to ensure the rights of women in Hindu community.
Expected Outcome:
- Directly 3162 women and indirectly 34782 women will be economically empowered by savings and income generation options that will contribute to increase their purchasing power. - A draft law on Hindu Marriage Law prepared and approved it in the parliament - 19 women leaded community based organizations (CBOs) be well renowned and popular as a key role player to ensure the equal rights for downtrodden and vulnerable women within the community as well as out side the community. The other people of these communities will get reliable and dependable place for addressing their VAW, gender discrimination issues. -Organized and united voice of women established for claiming their rights and entitlements
Project Goal: Enhance equal rights of downtrodden and vulnerable women to ensure their entitlement over resources and to reduce discrimination and violence against them.
Major Activity: . Strengthen 19 CBOs to make them sustainable through training, mobilization, involve in alternative economic activity..

Advocacy to sensitize the Service Delivery Institutions ( Police, health and public Prosecutors) through round table dialogue, experience sharing, media campaign.

Advocacy and Networking to enact a new Hindu Marriage Law.
