| Brief history of the Organization: |
Association of Voluntary Action for Society (AVAS) has been incepted in 1997 by its present Executive Director Rahima Sultana Kazal. The organization has been formed as a community based non-profitable, non-political and non-government voluntary organization. It is registered with Social Welfare Directorate, NGO Bureau and Women Affairs Bureau. Though initially, AVAS was set up to ensure women’s right & leadership, at present AVAS is conducting the activities like women empowerment &
leadership, safe water supply & sanitation, preserving rights for women and children, legal aid support and education, literacy education for the underprivileged, reproductive health education for the adolescents, HIV/AIDS and STI prevention, preserving civic and human rights, combating violence against women and children etc. All the activities are conducted according to its approved Constitution. The organization is accountable to its stakeholders, community people and Executive
Committee. |
| Project Objective: |
- To raise awareness among children, parents, journalists, local govt. and civil society and to rescue the children from hazardous, life risky as well as illegal works.
- To sensitize the employer and possessor of child laborer on child rights, negative consequences of hazardous labor and ensure a supportive environment in the working places of the hazardous working children.
- To create opportunities for flourishing of the hazardous working children through educational and recreational support.
- To establish linkage, liaison, sponsorship and maintain collaboration with other NGO, private and Govt. service providers for providing legal aid support, education and medical support to the extreme vulnerable children.

| Expected Outcome: |
- 1500 Working children will be well aware of their rights and raise
their voice.
- 500 Parents of children will be sensitized about the ill effects of child labor and restricting them from giving in employment at an early age.
- Three Civil society groups comprised of 15 members each in three areas will be able to raise their voice and take positive actions for protecting child labor and preserving child rights.
- Media will play an important role in reducing the vulnerability of the children and sensitizing the people at policy level to take positive steps to reduce hazardous child labor.
- 200 children will enjoy facilities in the child support service corner; develop leadership quality among themselves through proper education and training.
- Children will work in a congenial atmosphere with sound physic.
- 75 children form worst form of child labor will be withdrawn and receive training for better livelihoods.
- 200 working children will achieve skill through life skill training for standardizing their life style.
- As the project has several options to provide recreational support to the children, these children will be grown up with proper mental development.
