Brief history of the Organization:
Rajshahi based organization working with Adibasi people of Barindra region
Project Objective:
“To enable Adivasis to realise their rights and establish social security through strengthening Lahanti Akhras.” “To increase literacy rate and enhance life-skills of Adivasis so that they can avail better employment and income opportunities.” “To strengthen capacity of local level NGOs for effective implementation of their development initiatives for Adivasis. “To enable Adivasi Ultra poor families access into productive assets for increasing sustainable family income.”
Expected Outcome:
AID i- About 80% Akhras will be active in realising their rights through their own organisations, and obtaining services from GOs and NGOs. ii- About 40 Adivasis will participate in the ensuing Union Parishad (UP) election of 40 UPs. iii- About 160 Adivasis will be participating in different committees of UP and other local committees. iv- The elected chairmen and members of about 40 UPs will be more aware of the Adivasi condition, rights and problems and they will be more active in providing their services to them (Adivasis). v- Lahanti Akhras will uphold their traditional culture and will organize cultural events participated by the wider society people and observe social festivals and days of importance. vi- About 30% of the 123 Lahanti Akhras to be supported will take Khas lands on lease from government and regain their occupation on their graveyards. ESD i- About 450 children will be prepared for receiving basic education and get admitted into public/ private/ NGO run primary schools after pre-school education. ii- About 240 children will be offered basic education in their Mother Tongue in Sadri and will complete Grade- 3 level primary education and admitted in to Grade-1V of GO/NGO School. iii- About 30 Children will complete Grade-1V and admitted into Grade-V of GO/NGO School. iv- About 30 Children will complete Grade-V schooling and admitted into mainstream secondary school in Class-VI. v- About 300 adolescents will obtain basic education and improve their knowledge base and awareness on life skill issues and attain competencies for income earning. IFSUP i- About 90% of the 110 selected very poor Adivasi households in Godagari UPazila increased daily income and food consumption capacity. ii- Linked with micro finance institution/organisation to replication of income generating activities. iii- 90 beneficiaries would have skills in livestock rearing. And the rest 20 target participants will have skill on suitable income generating activities, i.e. HVC cultivation, petty trading and Van/Rickshaw pulling etc.
Project Goal: To enable Adivasis of Barind region to improve their socio-economic condition and establish human and Adivasi rights and social and political security.”
Major Activity: i- Building up/ strengthening of capacity of 130 Lahanti Akhras and their members. iii- Advocacy and lobbying at local, regional and national levels for availing facilities, ensuring social justice and human right v- Providing legal supports including financial assistance for getting justice to the Adivasi victim families. vii- Formation and functioning of cultural teams to perform cultural events on different Adivasi issues and problems.

Pre-school education activities: Setting up of schools, students’ selection, SMC formation, conducting classes, organising extra curriculum activities, etc. ii- NFPE centre activities: Setting up of NFPE centres, students’ selection, SMC formation, conducting classes, organising extra curriculum activities, etc.

Conducting different types of training for PNGO staffs like Project Management; Community based Advocacy; Monitoring and Evaluation; Planning, Reporting and Documentation; Budget Preparation; Accounts Keeping; and Adivasi Rights and Gender.

i- Provide orientation and skill development training on Cow fattening, goat, pig, poultry rearing and homestead gardening, Rickshaw and Rickshaw Van driving and petty trading. v- Assist to access their rights through Lahanti Akhras. vi- Provide assets to under take IGAs (Cow fattening, goat, pig, poultry rearing and homestead gardening and rickshaw/ van pooling) vii- Arrange meeting, workshop with local GOs and NGOs services providers for getting assistance from them. viii-Follow up, monitoring the activities.
