Project Title: Enhancement of Women and Child Rights in Monga Affected Areas through Good Governance
Project Location: Rangpur,Kaunia, Gangachara, Badarganj, Pirgachha.
Project Duration: 3 Years
Project Budget: 14216344 Tk
Brief history of the Organization:
Founded in June 1985, ASOD enriched its early experience (before the organisation was established) from many development programmes and self-initiated projects to improve the livelihoods of the poor and marginalised people by keenly observing their situation, their hardship and sufferings for bare necessities of life, and above all, their limitations and ignorance in improving their status in the society. All these had inspired ASOD to form an institution involving like-minded development volunteers/practitioners under a common platform, an outcome of the efforts and initiatives taken up.

ASOD’s primary focus is to ensure need-based development benefits among the targeted poor, particularly women and children who always are deprived of availing benefits from the existing service providing facilities. The goal of the organisation is to improve the socio-economic status of the disadvantaged people.
Project Objective:
- To create awareness of the hardcore poor people of the Monga affected areas on locally available resources, services and their rights for realising their entitlements. - To involve the community people and other local institutions for improving the condition and position of the Monga affected women & children and for increasing women’s participation in the decisionmaking at family and social levels. - To make the govt and non-govt service providers responsive for ensuring better access to resources and legal assistance by the Monga affected people and improving their quality of services. - To engage the civil society members and strengthen the existing Civil Society Committees (CSCs) including the staff members of ASOD for promoting the services & rights of the poor people.
Expected Outcome:
- The poor people of the Monga affected area will be aware of their rights which will contribute to the reduction of social problems. - Women’s participation in decision-making process will increase in family, social and economical level, improving their social dignity. - Local service provider agencies of the Monga prone areas will be more active and provide their better services to the Monga affected people. - Civil Society Committee (CSC) will play a leading role in establishing rights to locally available services of the Monga-prone people.
